Step 1-Firstly, you need to visit the PAN Portal of NSDL to search AO code. Step 2-Choose your residence city. Step 3-Once you have clicked on your residence city, a list of AO codes present in your city will be displayed in the portal. Step 4-Choose the preferred AO code based on the details mentioned.

What is an AO Code? AO code is the Assessing Officer's code under whose jurisdiction the applicant's ITR will fall. This code has to be mentioned in the form when applying for a PAN card. Such applicants have to provide the AO code in the application which can be obtained from the Income Tax Office.
